When it comes to your reputation, the Internet can giveth and taketh away pretty darn quick. The benefits of good online buzz can diminish in a few days if a harsh critic or unhappy customer decided to make their comments public. Since we’re starting to blog for our clients, we’re using these free tools for to help clients monitor conversations :
- We’ve set up Google Alerts based on specific search terms. This allows us to monitor news stories, competitors and who is writing what about you. We share the Google Alerts with clients once a month.
- We’ve established RSS alerts with Technorati.com to learn when anyone blogs about clients. By keeping track of blogs, we can link back to them through the client blog.
- We not only track blog posts, but comments too, being sure we don’t miss the entire conversation. We use Backtype.com to remind us where we commented, discovering influencers who are commenting on blogs that affect clients and continuing the conversation.
