I’m volunteering to lobby the state of Virginia to keep the state tourism budget at the same budget as in 2008. Three years in a row Virginia has cut the state tourism budget. I offered this advice to my clients in Montana:
Lobbying your state legislators to increase, or at the very least in this economy, not make any cuts to the state’s tourism budget directly affects the Big Sky area and your business. State legislators must hear from small businesses on how state tourism affects your business. The hospitality industry is one of the largest employers in the state of MT and the state lodging taxes bring in millions to the state budget. Cutting the state tourism budget will hurt every aspect of the state and local communities like Big Sky.
Currently the state of Montana has one of the lowest state tourism budgets; cutting that budget would hurt every small business and community in MT. I suggest each of you get out and lobby your state legislators and start your own grass roots lobbying efforts.
